Triggered Population III star formation: the effect of H2 self-shielding

نویسندگان

چکیده

The multiplicity of metal-free (Population III) stars may influence their feedback efficiency within host dark matter halos, affecting subsequent metal enrichment and the transition to galaxy formation. Radiative from massive can trigger nearby star formation in dense self-shielded clouds. In model radiation self-shielding, H$_2$ column density must be accurately computed. this study, we compare two local approximations based on gradient Jeans length with a direct integration along rays. After primary forms, find that no secondary form for both approaches. approximate method reduces computation time by factor 2. approximation overestimates 10, leading five numerically enhanced self-shielded, star-forming clumps. We conclude is sufficiently accurate larger volume simulations, although one still caution cannot fully reproduce result integration.

Magneto-Hydrodynamics of Population III Star Formation

Jet driving and fragmentation process in collapsing primordial cloud are studied using three-dimensional MHD nested grid simulations. Starting from a rotating magnetized spherical cloud with the number density of nc ≃ 10 cm, we follow the evolution of the cloud up to the stellar density nc ≃ 10 cm. We calculate 36 models parameterizing the initial magnetic and rotational energies (γ0, β0). In t...

Radiative Regulation of Population III Star Formation

We explore the impact of ultraviolet (UV) radiation from massive Population III (Pop III) stars of 25, 40, 80, and 120 M⊙ on the subsequent Pop III star formation. In this paper, particular attention is paid to the dependence of radiative feedback on the mass of source Pop III star. UV radiation from the source star can work to impede the secondary star formation through the photoheating and ph...

Population III Star Formation and IMF

We review recent 3D cosmological hydrodynamic simulations of primordial star formation from cosmological initial conditions (Pop III.1) and from initial conditions that have been altered by radiative feedback from stellar sources (Pop III.2). We concentrate on simulations that resolve the formation of the gravitationally unstable cloud cores in mini-halos over the mass range 105 < M/M⊙ < 107 an...

Cometary globules III . Triggered star formation in IC 1848

We present a multiwavelength study frommolecular and continuum observations of the cometary globule CG5 in the HII region IC1848. CG5 is associated with the luminous IRAS point source 02252+6120 (L= 1100 L ) and shows evidence for an energetic outflow and ongoing star formation (a cluster of low-mass stars has formed inside the cloud). CG5 is presently undergoing a second episode of photo-ionis...

Open questions in the study of population III star formation

The first stars were key drivers of early cosmic evolution. We review the main physical elements of the current consensus view, positing that the first stars were predominantly very massive. We continue with a discussion of important open questions that confront the standard model. Among them are uncertainties in the atomic and molecular physics of the hydrogen and helium gas, the multiplicity ...
